On 21 October 2016, ACA NSW Executive Committee Mary Repole and CEO Chiang Lim both participated in a roundtable discussion hosted by the NSW Department of Education about the possibility of a more standardised assessment of early childhood learning.

Currently, there appears to be inconsistent standards and varied opinions about how children between 0-5 years old ought to be assessed on their early learning and how such early learning outcomes are communicated to primary schools. A more standardised set of assessments are being considered for the benefit of children, their parents, their educators, and future schooling.

Mindful not to be considered as “Kiddie NAPLAN”, there was sector consensus in continuing this conversation with the NSW Department of Education in 2017.

ACA NSW welcomes members’ input, feedback and comments on this matter.
