What is Earth Day?

Earth Day is a special day when people all around the world come together to celebrate our planet and learn how to take care of it. On Earth Day, we talk about things we can do to keep our planet healthy, like recycling, planting trees, and saving water. It's a day to appreciate nature and think about how we can help protect it for the future.


When is Earth Day?

Activities:

  • Group Time: Discuss what Earth Day is and brainstorm different ways we can take care of our planet
  • Plant a tree and discuss the importance of clean air
  • Go on a nature scavenger hunt and see how many items you can find in the backyard. Gather at the end and count how many items you found, and explore the different items as a group
  • Collect recyclable materials to make crfts e.g. sculptures, bird feeders 
  • Put on some gloves and collect litter
  • Discuss Composting and create a compost bin as a class 
  • Discuss the importance of saving water and brainstorm different ways we can do that e.g. taking shorter showers, collecting rainwater for the plants 
  • Start a garden by planting vegetables, flowers and herbs
