International Day of Play

What is International Day of Play?

International Day of Play is a day to ensure play is protected, encouraged and recognised. This allows everyone, especially children, to enjoy the benefits of play and grow to their full potential.

When is International Day of Play?

Wednesday, June 11

Activities: 

• Set up play areas and stations for imaginative play, construction play, sensory play, nature play etc
• Ask the children what their favourite game is, and encourage the children to play it all together 
• With parental permission, encourage the children to bring a toy from home that they like to play with
• Play outdoor games to encourage the health and fitness of the children 
• Hold a group discussion as to why play is important. Expand to how play helps children grow, learn, make friends and feel happy.
