National Volunteer Week

What is National Volunteer Week?

National Volunteer Week celebrates people who help others without asking for anything in return. Volunteers do this by giving their time and energy to places such as schools, hospitals, shelters, parks, or even to people who are sick or lonely.

When is National Volunteer Week?

Thursday, June 20-26

Activities:

  • Group Time: Discuss the importance of volunteering and how it helps others.
  • Story Time: Read books or stories about volunteering and community service. Choose stories that highlight themes of kindness, generosity, and making a difference.
  • Thank You Cards: Provide materials for children to create handmade thank-you card for volunteers. Encourage them to decorate the cards with drawings, stickers, or messages expressing their gratitude.
  • Community Service Project: Plan a simple community service project that children can participate in, such as cleaning up litter in the neighbourhood.
