What is World Health Day?

World Health Day is an annual event raising awareness for global health. The benefits of good health and well-being is promoted, while educating children about the different ways we can live long healthy lives. WHD was first established by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in 1950. The global campaign fundraises those struggling to gain better access to essential health provisions.

Activities:

  • Discuss what World Health Day is
  • Group time: Have a discussion with the children about healthy habits and the benefits of eating healthy and staying active.
  • Outdoor exercise: After speaking about the importance of physical activity, take children outside for some fun exercises uch as hopscotch, jumping jacks and more.
  • Learn about healthy types of foods 
  • Fruit and veggie tasting: Children can taste different fruit and vegetables and learn the importance of eating a rainbow of foods for good health
  • Learn about the importance of drinking water
  • Plant a tree outside 
  • Handwashing demonstration: Teach children the proper way to wash their hands with soap and water.
  • Morning yoga: Start the say with some yoga poses and deep breathing
