World Mental Health Day

What is World Mental Health Day?

World Mental Health Day is dedicated to raising awareness about mental health issues, advocating for mental health education, support, and treatment. It is a great opportunity to start conversations, offer support, encourage action to prioritise mental health and reduce the stigma worldwide.

When is World Mental Health Day?

Thursday, October 10

Activities:

  • Emotional card game: use picture cards with different facial expressions to teach the children about emotions. Discuss each emotion and how to express their emotions
  • Mindfulness: explore exercises such as deep breathing, and music meditation to assist the children in taking care of their mental well-being
  • Positive affirmations: go around in a circle and share positive affirmations. Encourage the children to make it a daily routine to boost self-esteem and confidence
  • Art therapy: encourage the children to free hand their artworks to express their emotions through creativity. This encourages the children to process their emotions in a nonverbal way.
  • Story time: read age-appropriate books about feelings and mental health.
