Valentine's Day

What is Valentine's Day?

Valentine's Day, also referred to as "Sain't Valentine's Day" takes place on the 14th February each year. The Original 'St Valentine" was a liturgical celebration until centuries later, poets associated the event with romanticism. Over the centuries, Valentine's day evolved into an occassion where lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greetings cards. Symbols to represent Valentine's day include hearts, doves, and a winged cupid.

Valentine's day is also associated with sharing love for all people, not just romantic interests. Love can be shared through acts of kindness or words of encouragement.
